Period underwear is a revolution in the feminine hygiene world and is designed to absorb menstrual flow/blood without the need for additional menstrual products such as pads or tampons.

It works by using a combination of absorbent materials and leak-proof barriers to keep you dry and comfortable during your period. Simply wear the period underwear as you would regular underwear, and change as needed throughout the day. Bimba Underwear offers a variety of period underwear options to fit your needs and preferences.

After wearing it, simply: 

Rinse: Rinse the underwear with cold water to remove any excess blood. Once the water runs clear, you can jump to step 2.

Wash: You have 2 options. Either wash it by hand in cold water with mild detergent or in the washing machine on low temperature (<30 degrees). Do not use bleach, or fabric softeners, that would affect the properties of the product. 

Dry: Hang the underwear to dry in a well-ventilated area and away from the sun. Here again be cautious not to use a dryer or iron the period underwear, as it causes damage to the fabric.

Reuse: once dry, it’s ready for another use!

Following these steps will help extend the life of the period underwear and keep them clean and fresh.

Unfortunately no..it will damage the inner layer and your period undie will stop absorbing the blood flow.

This depends on the intensity of the blood flow and the product worn (Low/Medium/High).

For some people, it’s necessary to change the underwear every few hours, for others they can wear it the whole day with no issue (up to 12 hours). We recommend you to test it at home to find what works best for you.

Yes, making sure the right level of absorbency is selected to enjoy a good night sleep. The period underwear can be worn for up to 12 hours.

Yes! Any can be practiced wearing period underwear, the underwear will adjust to the body’s movements.

The absorbency level goes up to a medium-high coverage up to 30ml.

We do not offer products that can absorb a very heavy flow. However, there is always a way to work around it by using both the period undie and a menstrual cup.

We suggested you to buy at least 3 period underwear to allow one or 2 to dry once you wear the 3rd one. 

We offer a range of period underwear suitable for low to high absorbency, up to 3 tampons.  Refer to the product description to check the absorbency of each item.

Yes to both. We do not use any animal product to make our products, making the whole Bimba range vegan.

Bimba period underwear is an eco-friendly alternative to pads and tampons as it is reusable. An average woman will use 15,000 disposable menstrual products in her lifetime and our period underwear can last between 2 to 5 years, depending on the care given. When switching to period underwear, you are avoiding a lot of waste to be sent to landfill.

We only work with factories, where wages and working conditions are fair and ethical. The majority of the workers are women with some working for these factories for more than 10 years.

We are working on creating relationships with women’s foundations/NGO’s with the intention to support them acquire sewing knowledge to make their own period underwear, or support feminine hygiene and health education programs.

So far, we have helped several fundations based in Asiaand are hoping to continue our work here in Central America.
